Selmetrivar – What we believe about good investment research

Why we built an AI research assistant for the ordinary private investor, and what we believe good investment research actually looks like.

MOD-1

The problem we set out to solve

Private investing has never been more accessible, and the information available to an individual investor has never been more abundant. Yet abundance has created its own problem. The sheer volume of market commentary, company news, analyst opinion and economic data that reaches an investor on any given day is far beyond what any one person can read carefully, let alone evaluate critically. The result is a kind of low-grade paralysis — or worse, a tendency to defer to whoever sounds most confident rather than thinking independently.

We believed there was a better way to engage with investment information: not by consuming more of it, but by reading it more carefully. The discipline of identifying the assumptions behind a thesis, testing those assumptions against the evidence, mapping the risks that are not immediately visible, and comparing plausible scenarios with genuine rigour — this is what separates considered investment thinking from reactive noise. We built this research tool to make that discipline accessible to anyone willing to apply it.

MOD-2

What we believe about good investment research

Good investment research is not about having access to information that other people do not have. It is about reading the same information more carefully, asking better questions of it, and being honest about what you do not yet know. The investor who can identify the three assumptions their thesis depends on — and who has genuinely stress-tested each of them — is in a fundamentally stronger position than one who has simply read more articles about the same company.

We also believe that independence matters. The most dangerous moment in investment research is when you mistake someone else's conclusion for your own. this research tool is designed to help you engage with primary sources, interrogate received wisdom and build a position that reflects your own analysis of the evidence. The assistant challenges your thinking rather than flattering it, because that is what rigorous research actually requires.

MOD-3

Our commitment to honest, responsible tools

this research tool is an AI research assistant, not a financial adviser and not a trading platform. We are deliberate about this distinction because it matters. The tool is designed to sharpen your thinking before you make a decision — to help you see the information in front of you more clearly, organise it more usefully and interrogate it more honestly. What you decide to do with that thinking is entirely your own responsibility, and we would not have it any other way.

We operate in accordance with UK law and take our responsibilities around data privacy, transparency and honest communication seriously. We do not make claims we cannot support, we do not promise outcomes we cannot guarantee, and we do not design our product to create dependency rather than capability. The goal is an investor who thinks better — not one who simply uses our tool more.
